For more than 20 years, Marlene has represented clients across Middle Tennessee in matters of family and civil law. She is dedicated, compassionate, and empathetically understands the difficult life situations that her clients face.
Marlene started her legal career working as a Child Protective Services investigator, where she worked conducting investigations and researching a variety of constitutional and case law. Highly unsatisfied and upset concerning what she believed was an unfair ruling from a Judge, Marlene reflected on how she would have handled the situation as an Attorney, as well as a Judge. That day, she began studying for the LSAT and later applied and was accepted to Nashville School of Law, her future alma mater.
After graduating from NSL in 2006, Marlene gained a wide-range of experience in the legal field, including as an Administrative Law Judge for the Tennessee Department of Human Services, Assistant General Counsel for the Department of Children’s Services, and most importantly, as a private practice attorney. Marlene opened her own practice in 2011, litigating family law, juvenile law, adoptions, contract disputes, wills/probate, and other civil cases. She only recently joined our team at Durak Divorce & Family Law, and for that, we are grateful!
She is a committed litigator, focusing her attention on each client’s unique story, forming a deep understanding of the evidence, and ensuring clients understand each step in the process. Due to her over two decades of experience, she is able to analyze and assess the facts of each case at the snap of a finger. Marlene is endlessly committed to research and has never stopped learning. She truly believes in setting each of her cases up with a strong legal foundation from start to finish.
On her own time, Marlene loves to cook and is a closet writer. On any given Saturday, you’ll find Marlene spending time with her wonderful husband and children, cleaning house, hiking with her dog, or travelling. Ask her about her recent trip to Europe!
