Steve Mills has been practicing law across Middle Tennessee for over 25 years, working a wide variety of areas including domestic, civil, criminal, administrative, and appellate law. He is extremely knowledgeable, an effective litigator, and devoted to each of his cases.
Steve has a diverse collection of cases under his belt, including multiple Termination of Parental Rights (TPR) cases, defended at the Appellate level, mergers and acquisition transactions, felony and misdemeanor criminal defense, and hundreds of divorces and child custody cases. He is known as a fair but aggressive litigator with a dedication to strong legal analysis and continuing education.
Steve got his start in the legal field after working for Ford Credit in Memphis, Tennessee. During his time there, he worked closely with their legal department and eventually fell in love with the law. Steve then went on to attend the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, graduating and passing the Bar examination in 1999. Since then, he has made his name working in private practice throughout Middle Tennessee as a solo practitioner. Steve joined the Durak Divorce & Family Law team in late 2025.
He understands that most people only need an attorney during a few high-stress, pivotal moments in their lives and provides a steady, helpful hand to support clients through this process. Over 25 years later, Steve is still helping clients all across Middle Tennessee through direct, effective, and caring representation.
In his spare time, you can find Steve spending time with his wife of 27 years, their son, and their beloved dog, Derek. He is also an avid lover of movies, popular culture, and trivia.
